5 Things You Don't Want to Skip When Planning HubSpot Implementation

When working with a HubSpot implementation partner, there are critical aspects that, if overlooked, can lead to gaps in the effectiveness of the implementation.

Here are five three areas we want focus on when exploring with customers and at times have to completely reconstruct if they have been missed including in their initial roll outs

1. Customization and Integration Requirements
  • What to Ask: How will the implementation be customized to fit our specific business needs and how will it integrate with our existing tech stack?
  • What You Might Have Missed: If you didn’t ask this, you may have ended up with a generic implementation that doesn’t fully align with your unique business processes, data workflows, or existing software ecosystem. This can lead to inefficiencies and underutilization of HubSpot's capabilities.
2. Data Migration Strategy
  • What to Ask: What is the strategy for migrating existing data into HubSpot, and how will data integrity and accuracy be maintained during this process?
  • What You Might Have Missed: Failing to address this could result in incomplete or inaccurate data migration, leading to issues with reporting, customer insights, and overall system performance. Ensuring a clear data migration plan helps avoid disruptions and ensures a smooth transition to HubSpot.
3. User Training and Adoption Plan
  • What to Ask: What is the plan for training our team and ensuring high adoption rates among all users?
  • What You Might Have Missed: Without a solid training and adoption plan, your team might struggle to use HubSpot effectively, leading to underutilization of the platform's features and a lower return on investment. Engaging your team early and providing ongoing training and support are essential to maximizing the benefits of HubSpot.
4. Custom Object Setup and Data Structure
  • What to Ask: Have we fully defined and implemented custom objects and data structures to align HubSpot with our unique business processes?
  • What You Might Have Missed: If you skip this step, your HubSpot setup may lack the flexibility to capture and manage the unique data your business requires. Custom objects allow you to extend HubSpot's database to include data that doesn't fit neatly into standard objects like Contacts or Deals. Correcting this oversight later often requires significant reconfiguration and data migration, which can be costly and time-consuming​ 
5. Integration Strategy and Testing
  • What to Ask: Have we thoroughly planned and tested integrations with other systems in our tech stack?
  • What You Might Have Missed: Overlooking the integration strategy can lead to significant technical challenges, such as data inconsistencies, workflow disruptions, or even system failures. Ensuring seamless integration between HubSpot and other platforms (like your CRM, ERP, or marketing tools) is essential for maintaining data integrity and operational efficiency. If not handled correctly from the start, fixing these integrations later can be highly complex, involving custom coding and extensive testing​ 

Addressing these areas early on ensures that your HubSpot implementation is fully aligned with your business objectives, data needs, and user capabilities, ultimately leading to a more successful deployment.
